Different shades of Mulch hand dyed t-shirts

One mans trash is another mans treasure

Reclaimed T-shirt Project:

Today in our consumer hungry society there is an unbelievable amount of waste going to the dumps everyday. Mulch’s goal is to be zero waste and be as resourceful as possible. We found a brand that had made a large batch of T-shirts they could not use. The tees had a poor dye and the color was splotchy. We ended up getting the whole batch of basic cotton tees with a mission to give them a new look and new life.

We hand dyed all the shirts in small batches. The quantities are from as few as 3 of a kind up two 20 of each. Each batch took us about 3 hours to dye. Our favorite part is the small hand dye batches each shirts comes out unique, it own unique shade of color lighter or darker then the next one. No 2 T-shirts are the same. Our T-shirt’s are not your standard colors; the colors we use are natural and earthy. We used a variation of dye techniques; we did full emersion dye baths, suffocation, low emersion, tie-dye, ice dye, batik, and stamps. We added constructional stitches to enhance the longevity of the T-shirts. Our graphic designer Jorge Martinez created custom hand drawn artwork for the tees as well.

The fashion industry is one most wasteful industry in the world. Mulch brings a new mentality to the industry. We put the planet and people in the forefront of our brand. This project intrigued us because we were able to take T-shirts at the end of their life cycle and give them new life. The T-shirts follow the same mentality of our brand expressing uniqueness in each Tee.
